Youth Homeless Demonstration Program
In August 2019, Clackamas County was one of 23 communities across the country to be awarded funds through the Department of Urban Development’s Youth Homeless Demonstration Project (YHDP) with the purpose of preventing and ending homelessness for unaccompanied youth and young adults. Parrott Creek and True Housing participated in a year-long cross-system collaboration to design a county-wide plan.
In July 2020, funding was approved for DevNW as the lead partner supported by Parrott Creek, True Housing, Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and Clackamas Workforce Partnership among others. Parrott Creek and True Housing will be providing intensive case management and behavioral health support, Transitional Housing and Rapid Re-Housing to homeless young adults aged 18-24.
The collaborative approach will ensure youth and young adults:
- Have access to equitable, youth driven, timely, low barrier and culturally appropriate housing options and support services;
- Are empowered, that their voices are heard, rights are respected, needs are met and experiences validated; and
- Have a range of services available, including employment and educational resources, and positive youth connections that contribute to social and emotional well-being.
